Many people inside critical industries want their work to help build a better future.
They can see what needs to change, but often have no safe way to act on that insight beyond the limits of their own organisation.
We are supporting a philanthropically funded UK non-profit that is building that missing infrastructure.
The organisation creates confidential networks of experienced industry insiders: people close enough to understand where power sits, why better decisions stall and which structures, incentives and norms might need to shift.
Their collective insight is then used carefully to inform and support change, engaging the investors, policy makers, regulators, civil society leaders and journalists best placed to act.
This is not anti-industry work. It is not about attacking individual companies or asking people to disclose sensitive information. It is about creating trusted routes for people inside critical industries to contribute to constructive, industry-level change.
Why philanthropy matters
The model is already gaining traction. Its work has reached national media and informed senior conversations across business, investment and government.
The organisation is independent. It does not take corporate, government or lobbyist funding.
That matters. Some work can only be trusted if it is not funded by the interests it may need to challenge.
Aligned philanthropy is therefore not just a source of income. It is part of the model’s legitimacy, independence and ability to scale.
The role
The organisation now needs a philanthropy lead whose credibility, judgement and donor relationships can help build the circle of aligned funders behind this work.
This is not a conventional fundraising role. For the right person, it will feel closer to a focused civic contribution: paid, part-time and built around judgement, trusted relationships and strategic leverage.
This role will help shape the major donor strategy, sharpen the case for support, build trusted relationships with senior donors and support the founder in high-value conversations.
A Philanthropy Manager will support the role, providing delivery capacity across donor research, pipeline development, coordination and follow-through.
Who we are looking for
- deep experience in major donor fundraising, HNW philanthropy or philanthropic advisory work
- a strong, current network across high-net-worth, family office or aligned philanthropic circles
- credibility with senior donors, family offices and philanthropic advisers
- a track record of securing significant gifts, ideally including five- or six-figure gifts
- strong strategic judgement and the ability to guide a focused philanthropy function
- discretion, relationship-building ability and confidence in high-trust contexts
- the ability to communicate complex, sensitive and high-leverage work clearly
- a serious commitment to social and environmental progress
This role will likely suit someone who already knows how to build trust with serious donors and wants to use their judgement, network and credibility to support a distinctive piece of public-interest work.
