How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Electrical Design Engineer – Building Services Design / MEP

    Reading, Berkshire – Hybrid & Flexible Working

    £50k to £65k

    Electrical Design Engineer / Building Services Design / MEP / Senior Electrical Design Engineer

    This role is for an experienced electrical design engineer to join a growing building services design team.

    You’ll work on a range of technically interesting and varied projects, including work with well-known architects, designers and contractors. They have a great reputation for the quality of their services and their focus on sustainability and are looking for an engineer who shares these values.

    This employer is large enough to offer stability and progression, but small enough to recognise individual contributions and achievements. The role will be instrumental in helping to continue to grow and develop a team of technically competent engineers as well as maintaining good client relationships to support future business growth.

    Responsibilities

    * Be responsible for the day-to-day technical delivery of the electrical design services for multi-disciplinary projects across a number of building sectors.

    * Attending project meetings.

    * Working in an integrated project design team with other construction professionals.

    * Engage with junior staff in their day-to-day activities and offer advice and guidance.

    * Work with the team leader to help monitor fee expenditure, resource and work delivered.

    Experience Required

    * Degree educated in electrical engineering, building services or similar.

    * Excellent technical knowledge and experience as an electrical design engineer in MEP, preferably a chartered engineer or working towards chartership.

    * Thorough understanding of building services engineering.

    * Experience of mentoring junior members of staff would be beneficial
