How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Water Hygiene Engineer

    Location: Lambeth - Salary: £35,735 - Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

    An established and growing facilities management contractor is seeking an experienced Water Hygiene Engineer to join its commercial maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within a supportive business that invests in continuous training, professional development and career progression.

    The successful candidate will work across a range of commercial water hygiene contracts, carrying out legionella control and water hygiene tasks on both mains-fed and stored hot and cold water systems. The role also includes minor plumbing works where required and offers a varied workload across multiple client sites.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Carry out water temperature monitoring and water sampling in accordance with current legislation and guidance.

    * Conduct cold water storage tank inspections, cleaning and disinfection.

    * Clean and descale showers and other water outlets.

    * Service Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs).

    * Undertake minor plumbing repairs and remedial works as required.

    * Complete service reports accurately on the same day using a handheld PDA or mobile device.

    * Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients.

    * Work independently and as part of a wider team, demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach.

    * Manage workload effectively to meet agreed deadlines and service levels.

    * Respond to urgent tasks as required and support colleagues where necessary.

    * Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with current Health and Safety legislation, company procedures and industry best practice.

    Requirements

    Essential

    * Minimum of one year's experience within a water hygiene role.

    * Legionella Awareness qualification.

    * Full UK driving licence.

    * Excellent communication and customer service skills.

    * Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

    Desirable

    * NVQ in Plumbing or equivalent qualification.

    * Plumbing experience and the ability to carry out minor remedial works.

    * Knowledge of ACoP L8, HSG274 and the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999.

    * Asbestos Awareness certification.

    * Training in Working at Height, Manual Handling, First Aid or other relevant Health and Safety qualifications.
