How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Teaching Assistant

    Location: Canterbury, Kent

    Salary: £93 - £105 per day (depending on experience)

    Start date: ASAP / September 2026

    Contract: Full-time, Long-term supply

    GSL Education Kent is currently recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school in Canterbury. This full-time position is available for an immediate start and offers the opportunity to play a vital role in supporting both teachers and pupils in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

    Based in Canterbury, this school is renowned for its nurturing ethos and commitment to delivering a high-quality education for all pupils. As a Teaching Assistant, you will be welcomed into a team that values collaboration and mutual support. The school offers a stimulating learning environment where students are encouraged to be curious and confident.

    As a Teaching Assistant, you will be expected to:

    Work closely with class teachers to deliver an engaging and inclusive primary curriculum.
    Lead 1:1 sessions or small group activities focused on literacy, numeracy, and social development.
    Assist in monitoring student progress and providing constructive feedback to teaching staff.
    Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to all school-wide safeguarding protocols.
    In order to be considered for this Teaching Assistant role, the candidate must:

    Have prior experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a related youth-support capacity.
    Demonstrate a sincere passion for helping young students grow both academically and personally.
    Exhibit excellent communication skills and a reliable, professional work ethic.
    Have the right to work in the UK.
    Meet GSL's safer recruitment background checks.
    Have a Child Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
