How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Studio Picture Framer

    About Us

HENI is an ArtTech company working at the intersection of contemporary art, publishing, education and digital platforms. Alongside our digital activity, we have a long-standing physical production studio that supports the making, framing and presentation of artworks by internationally recognised artists.

Our workshop produces museum-quality framed works for editioned and unique artworks at scale. We care deeply about consistency, precision, and finish – every piece must meet the same exacting standard.

    The Role

We are looking for an experienced Picture Framer or highly skilled woodworker to join our framing studio in South East London.

This is a full-time, permanent workshop role (Monday – Friday, 9am – 6pm, with some flexibility required).

The work is highly production-based: you will be producing multiple editions of the same works to an exacting standard. Success in this role is defined by maintaining absolute consistency and quality across high volumes of output.

This is not a retail or bespoke one-off framing position – it is a precision production craft role within a specialist fine art environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Working collaboratively within a small, highly skilled production team
    • Cutting and preparing frame mouldings, including use of Hoffman system equipment
    • Safe and accurate use of woodworking machinery
    • Joining frames using traditional and modern methods
    • Sanding and finishing frames to a consistently high standard using professional extraction systems
    • Applying stains, waxes and other finishes
    • Cutting and preparing plywood, mount board, backing boards, acrylic and glass
    • Cleaning and handling museum-grade glazing including Optium Museum Acrylic and Museum Glass
    • Mounting artworks using conservation techniques (e.g. Japanese paper hinges, wheat starch paste)
    • Filleting and detail finishing using mountboard and wrapped wood fillets
    • Final assembly, fitting, and rigorous quality control prior to dispatch

    Ideal Experience & Qualifications

We are looking for a craftsperson who takes pride in precision and consistency. You will likely have:

    • Professional experience in picture framing, or a strong background in joinery, cabinetry, furniture making, or fine woodworking
    • Confidence working in a production environment where repetition and consistency are central
    • A strong understanding of quality – not just spotting issues, but preventing them
    • The ability to maintain focus and standards across high volumes of work
    • A calm, methodical approach to making
    • Pride in workmanship and attention to detail at a high level
    • Discretion when working with valuable and sensitive artworks

You will be someone who enjoys refining a process until it is consistently right – whether it is the first frame of the day or the three hundredth.

    What We Offer

    • £35,000-£37,500 per annum, depending on experience (with flexibility for an exceptional candidate)
    • Permanent full-time position in a stable, well-equipped workshop
    • The opportunity to work with significant contemporary artworks and internationally recognised artists
    • A focused production environment where quality is the priority
    • A skilled and experienced team working to high standards
    • Consistent, long-term workshop work with clear expectations and structure

    How to Apply

Please send your CV and a short covering letter outlining:

    • Your relevant experience
    • A project or piece of work you are particularly proud of
    • What you enjoy most about making or working in production craft

You can reach us via recruitment@heni.com

Due to the volume of applications, we are unable to respond individually to all candidates. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
