About the Setting
This setting is a dynamic tuition academy providing high-quality educational support for students aged 8–18. Operating both from a dedicated, modern tuition centre in Slough and through a global online platform, the academy helps primary and secondary pupils build academic confidence, strengthen subject knowledge, and achieve excellent exam outcomes.
The academy specialises in 11+ preparation, GCSE, IGCSE, and A-Level tuition, with a sharp focus on STEM subjects alongside core subjects like English. Their mission is to deliver engaging, structured teaching that empowers both UK-based and international learners to reach their full potential.
Roles & Responsibilities
As an Academic Tutor, you will deliver high-quality, engaging lessons tailored to different learning styles. Depending on your preference and location, you will teach face-to-face at the Slough centre or virtually to students across the UK and international time zones (including the UAE). You will:
- Deliver targeted subject tuition across key stages, including 11+ prep, GCSE, IGCSE, or A-Level.
- Explain complex academic concepts clearly, confidently, and enthusiastically.
- Adapt your teaching methods to suit individual student needs and learning paces.
- Build positive, supportive, and professional relationships with students to boost their academic confidence.
- Prepare pupils thoroughly for key exams and assessments using structured lesson plans.
What You’ll Need
- A Bachelor’s degree in the specific subject you wish to teach (e.g., Mathematics for Maths tutors; Biology/Chemistry/Physics for Science tutors; Computer Science for Computer Science tutors).
- A minimum of one year’s teaching or tutoring experience.
- Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for your academic discipline.
- An Enhanced DBS certificate (or a willingness to obtain one before onboarding).
- For Online Tutors: A suitable home working environment, reliable high-speed internet, confidence using online teaching platforms, and the flexibility to accommodate international time zones (such as the UAE) where required.
- For In-Person Tutors: Ability to travel to the dedicated tuition centre in Slough (Bath Road area) to deliver face-to-face sessions.
Desirable:
- A Master’s degree in your specialist subject.
- Experience teaching specific exam boards for GCSE/IGCSE or A-Level.
