How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    US Business Tax Associate Director

Salary: Up to £125,000 DOE Location: Mayfair, London

This senior position sits within a specialist US/UK tax advisory team and is ideal for an experienced US business tax professional seeking a high‑impact, outward‑facing role with genuine influence.

The team supports individuals and businesses investing into the US, as well as US persons with interests across the UK and Europe. As Associate Director, you’ll lead complex advisory work, oversee high‑level compliance, and contribute to the continued growth of this specialist service line.

    The Role

You’ll combine technical excellence with strong client interaction, team leadership, and commercial oversight. This role is suited to someone who enjoys simplifying complex matters and delivering clear, actionable advice.

    Key Responsibilities

    Client Delivery & Advisory

Lead complex US tax advisory assignments including cross‑border structuring, US expansion, treaty claims, and support for US entrepreneurs relocating to the UK.

Oversee preparation and review of US business tax returns (Forms 1120, 1120‑F, 1120‑S, 1065) and related non‑US entity forms (5471, 8858, 8865).

Manage IRS enquiries and correspondence, including technically challenging cases.

Conduct high‑level technical research and provide clear, practical recommendations.

    Leadership & Team Development

Support senior leadership in managing a growing team of US tax specialists.

Provide coaching, guidance, and technical training to junior staff.

Delegate effectively, monitor progress, and ensure deadlines are met.

Contribute to a collaborative, high‑performance team culture.

    Commercial & Operational Management

Assist with financial performance management including WIP oversight, billing, cash collection, and preparing fee quotes.

Support business development through networking, attending events, and contributing to thought leadership.

Uphold compliance with professional standards, confidentiality requirements, and internal policies.

    What You’ll Bring

You’re technically strong, commercially aware, and able to communicate complex matters clearly. You manage your workload confidently and enjoy working collaboratively.

    You will also bring:

Strong US tax technical expertise supported by qualifications such as CPA, EA, or JD.

Around 10 years’ experience in US business taxation, with credibility advising inbound and outbound clients.

Solid grounding in cross‑border US tax issues including Subpart F, GILTI, treaty relief, and FIRPTA.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships.

Leadership experience, ideally supervising or mentoring staff.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Competence with accounting/tax software; experience with CCH and Virtual Cabinet is advantageous.

High levels of discretion when handling sensitive client information.

    Benefits

A competitive salary up to £125k DOE, plus a comprehensive benefits package designed to support wellbeing, financial security, and career development, including:

    Private Medical Insurance

    Life Assurance

    Group Income Protection

Employee Assistance Programme & Digital GP

Ongoing training and fully funded qualification pathways

    Recognition programmes and long‑service awards

    Cycle to Work scheme
