How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

You'll enjoy the flexibility of remote working, a varied project portfolio and the opportunity to build long-term relationships with clients while working alongside an experienced team.

    The Role

As a CDM Principal Designer, you'll lead the delivery of Principal Designer services across multiple construction projects, ensuring clients meet their obligations under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. You'll work closely with designers, contractors and clients to identify and manage design risks from concept through to project completion.

    Your responsibilities will include:

Acting as Principal Designer under the CDM Regulations 2015

Coordinating CDM duties across a wide range of construction projects

Leading design risk reviews and facilitating design team workshops

Advising clients, designers and contractors on CDM compliance and best practice

    Preparing and reviewing Pre-Construction Information

Overseeing the production and completion of Health & Safety Files

Identifying and managing design and construction risks throughout the project lifecycle

Supporting clients in meeting their legal responsibilities under CDM and associated legislation

Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders

Contributing to the ongoing development of internal processes and service delivery

    About You

Proven experience delivering Principal Designer services under CDM 2015

Background in Architecture, Building Surveying, Engineering, Building Services or a related construction discipline

Strong understanding of design risk management and construction health & safety legislation

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Confident leading meetings and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams

Strong report writing and organisational skills

    NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent)

Membership of APS, IOSH or another relevant professional body

Awareness of PAS 8671 and the Building Safety Act 2022 would be advantageous

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites across the South West and UK when required

    What's on Offer

Salary of £45,000 - £65,000 depending on experience

    Fully remote and flexible working

    Company pension

    Paid professional memberships

    Ongoing CPD and professional development

Diverse project portfolio across multiple sectors

    Supportive and collaborative consultancy environment

Clear opportunities for long-term career progression

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CDM Principal Designer looking for greater autonomy, flexible working and the chance to work on a wide variety of technically interesting projects within a growing consultancy.
