How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Teaching Assistant
    Full-time
    Primary School
    Islington
Start date: September 2026We are currently recruiting Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Islington to support pupils within year 6.

    The Role

In this full-time Teaching Assistant role, you will work as part of the Year 6 team, providing support across all classes as needed.

You will work closely with class teachers to enhance pupils’ learning, either in small groups or on an individual basis. Your role will involve ensuring pupils understand the tasks set, are clear on their learning objectives, and remain focused so they can make progress.

Working alongside class teachers, you will assist with preparing learning resources and lead small group sessions in English, maths, and reading. You will primarily support children who require additional help during lessons, including working with small groups and supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

You will need strong English and maths skills, with a GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in both subjects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant seeking a classroom-based role, or for a graduate looking to gain valuable classroom experience before pursuing a career in teaching.

The School This welcoming and inclusive primary school in Islington is committed to providing a supportive and inspiring learning environment where every child is encouraged to thrive. With a strong focus on high-quality teaching, wellbeing, and personal development, the school promotes a nurturing atmosphere where pupils feel safe, valued, and motivated to achieve their best.

The school benefits from a collaborative and dedicated staff team, strong relationships with families, and a vibrant school community. With excellent learning facilities, engaging enrichment opportunities, and a child-centred approach, the school is committed to supporting both academic progress and social development.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant seeking a rewarding role within a supportive school environment. If you are passionate about helping children succeed and want to be part of a welcoming team, we would love to hear from you.

We have a policy to respond to all applications within three working days. However, because of the volume of applications, we are sometimes unable to reply to individual enquiries.
