How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Fire Door Surveyor – Temp Contract (Care Homes)
    Location: Chester & Surrounding Areas
    Day Rate: £240 Per Day

    The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced fire door surveyor to pick up a well-structured, ongoing contract working across care home sites in and around Chester. The contract runs until December 2026, working through one scheme at a time with each site taking approximately four to six weeks to complete. This is a rolling programme of surveying and remedial works, offering consistent, well-supported work through to the end of the year.

The role requires someone who is not only technically strong but also personable, patient and sensitive to the needs of residents in care home environments. Strong communication skills and a caring approach are essential.

    The Role

As Fire Door Surveyor, you will carry out BM TRADA condition survey reports on communal doors, riser doors and flat entrance doors across multiple care home sites in the Chester area. Following the survey phase, you will carry out remedial works to bring doors up to a compliant standard, ease and adjust doors to correct gap tolerances, and arrange access appointments directly with residents for flat entrance door inspections.

You will use Bolster to record survey findings and maintain open, professional communication with the client and reception staff throughout.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Carry out BM TRADA condition survey reports on communal doors, riser doors and flat entrance doors

    * Ease and adjust doors to bring gaps to a compliant standard

    * Carry out remedial works as identified through the survey process

    * Arrange appointments directly with residents for flat entrance door inspections

    * Record all survey findings accurately using Bolster

    * Maintain open and professional communication with the client and reception staff regarding access issues

    * Assist with deliveries of new door sets where required

    * Work one scheme at a time through to completion — approximately four to six weeks per site

    * Maintain a caring, respectful and professional approach when working within occupied care home environments

    What We're Looking For

    * Proven experience carrying out fire door surveys to BM TRADA standards — essential

    * Experience carrying out fire door remedial works including easing, adjusting and gap correction

    * Experience using Bolster — essential

    * NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry — required

    * Fire door surveying certificate — required

    * Excellent communication skills — essential

    * A caring and patient approach when working within care home or similar sensitive environments — essential

    * Ability to liaise professionally with clients, reception staff and residents throughout the works

    * Full UK Driving Licence — required

    What's On Offer

    * £240 per day

    * Contract running to December 2026

    * Rolling programme working one scheme at a time across Chester and surrounding areas

    * Start date Monday 6th July
