How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Geotechnical Engineer (Progression to Senior)

    Field-Based - Covering all of England up to Manchester

    £38,000 - £42,000 + Van + Overtime + Progression + Training Investment + Health Insurance + Pension + Holidays

    Are you a Geotechnical Engineer with site investigation experience looking for a clear and fast route to Senior level?

    Do you want to work for a company who will genuinely invest in your skills and development, funding training courses and giving you access to 1-to-1 leadership coaching?

    The company are a well-established service provider to the ground investigation industry, delivering geotechnical and site investigation drilling across borehole drilling, groundwater installations, CBR testing, soakaways, concrete coring and structural investigation. Working across rail, energy and highways, they have ambitious growth plans to double in size over the next 3-5 years creating real opportunities for the right people to step up as the business expands.

    The ideal candidate will have 3 years' experience within geotechnical site investigation work and be able to supervise drilling rigs. They must hold a full driving license and be happy to travel, with work covering anywhere up to Manchester and occasional visits to Milton Keynes.

    The Role:

    * Supervising drilling rigs across geotechnical and site investigation projects
    * Varied work across rail, energy and highways sectors
    * Fast progression route to Senior / Project Engineer level
    * Funded training courses plus 1-to-1 access to a Leadership Coach
    * Monday to Friday, 45 hours + overtime and alternate weekend availability
    * Field based - covering sites up to Manchester, flexible on location

    The Candidate:

    * 3 years' experience within geotechnical / site investigation work
    * Able to supervise drilling rigs
    * Full driving license
    * Happy to travel to sites up to Manchester and the office in Milton Keynes when needed
    * Looking to progress towards Senior level
