How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

£27-£30 per hour | Flexible Hours | Immediate Start
We are recruiting experienced SEND Tutors to deliver high-quality, one-to-one tuition across Durham on behalf of local authorities and schools.
This role involves supporting children and young people who are unable to attend mainstream education due to a range of additional needs. Many learners have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Your role is to provide tailored academic support while helping learners rebuild confidence, engagement and positive learning habits.
    The Role

Deliver personalised 1:1 tuition in the learner's home or an agreed community setting, such as a library.

Adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs, abilities and EHCP outcomes.

Support learners with core subjects, helping them make academic progress at a pace that suits them.

Create a safe, engaging and positive learning environment that encourages participation and confidence.

Record learner progress and provide regular feedback following local authority or school requirements.

Work collaboratively with families, schools and case coordinators to ensure each learner receives the support they need.
    Requirements

Experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs.

Experience delivering personalised teaching or tutoring.

An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service is essential.

Excellent communication skills and a patient, adaptable approach.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable but not essential for candidates with strong relevant tutoring experience.
    What We Offer

Competitive pay of £27-£30 per hour.

Flexible working hours to fit your availability.

Long-term opportunities through local authority and school contracts.

The opportunity to make a genuine difference to the education and wellbeing of vulnerable learners
