How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Graduate Psychology Assistant - ASC & SEMH School

    Location: Leyland, Lancashire

Salary: £98.89 - £130 per day (PAYE, dependent on experience)

Job Type: Full-time, Long-term (with permanent opportunities)

Start Date: September 2026 / Immediate

Are you a recent Psychology Graduate aiming to build a career in educational psychology, clinical practice, or speech and language therapy? Do you want to gain hands-on, paid experience in a highly specialised specialist setting?

Tradewind Recruitment is partnering with an outstanding Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) school in Leyland. We are looking for a passionate, empathetic individual to support their pupils on a small-group basis.

    The Role

This position bypasses the crowded mainstream classroom environment to focus entirely on high-impact, small-scale interventions. You will be working with classes made up of up to 5 pupils, giving you the unique opportunity to build strong rapport, recognise specific sensory or emotional triggers, and implement tailored behavioural support.

    Key Responsibilities:

Utilise your psychology background to understand complex human behaviour, trauma, and neurodiverse profiles.

Work on a dedicated small group basis to help pupils manage their emotions, develop social skills, and engage with learning.

Collaborate closely with class teachers, speech therapists, and internal mental health teams to deliver individual care plans.

Maintain a calm, safe, and structured environment tailored to the sensory needs of the pupils.

    What We Are Looking For

A degree in Psychology or a closely related social science discipline.

A genuine drive to support children facing social, emotional, and neurodiverse challenges.

High levels of patience, resilience, and strong interpersonal communication skills.

Any prior experience (voluntary or paid) in youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, or care environments is highly advantageous.

    Why Choose Tradewind Recruitment?

Top Rates of Pay: Excellent daily rates paid weekly via PAYE (no hidden umbrella fees).

Industry-Leading CPD: Free, unlimited access to over 2,500 certified courses, including Team Teach, Understanding Autism, and Safeguarding.

Local Expertise: Guided by a dedicated Lancashire-based consultant who understands the local education market.

True Career Progression: Perfect stepping stone for anyone building a portfolio for Master's or Doctorate applications.
