How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: London

    Company: Hunter Bond

Hunter Bond is a leading global recruitment firm specialising in placing exceptional talent across Quantitative Trading, Technology, and Financial Markets. We partner with some of the world's most prestigious hedge funds, proprietary trading firms, and quantitative investment managers.

We are looking for a highly motivated Market Research Associate to join our Quant Trading desk. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop deep expertise within the quantitative trading market and provides a clear pathway into a client-facing recruitment position.

    The Role

As a Market Research Associate, you will be responsible for identifying, mapping, and researching top talent across the global quantitative trading landscape. Working closely with experienced recruiters and team leaders, you will develop an in-depth understanding of the market, key firms, and leading professionals within the industry.

This position is designed as an entry point into a full recruitment career. As you gain market knowledge and confidence, you will progressively take ownership of candidate outreach and eventually conduct conversations with senior quantitative professionals.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct detailed market mapping across quantitative trading, systematic trading, and related financial markets sectors.
    • Identify and research high-calibre candidates using a variety of tools and platforms.
    • Build and maintain accurate candidate and company intelligence within internal systems.
    • Analyse hiring trends, competitor activity, and talent movements across the market.
    • Support consultants with candidate identification for live mandates.
    • Create talent pipelines for future client requirements.
    • Develop a strong understanding of quantitative trading strategies, firms, and market participants.
    • Progressively engage with candidates and build professional relationships.
    • Transition into candidate-facing responsibilities, including screening calls and market discussions.

    Requirements

    • Strong academic background.
    • Excellent research, analytical, and organisational skills.
    • Naturally curious with a genuine interest in financial markets and quantitative trading.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Highly driven, ambitious, and eager to learn.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
    • Comfortable engaging with senior professionals as the role develops.
    • Previous research, recruitment, sales, finance, or market intelligence experience is advantageous but not essential.

    What We Offer

    • Comprehensive training on quantitative trading markets and recruitment.
    • Direct exposure to leading global hedge funds and trading firms.
    • Clear career progression into a full recruitment consultant position.
    • Opportunity to develop commercial and relationship-management skills.
    • Competitive base salary and performance-based incentives.
    • Collaborative, high-performance team environment.
    • Long-term career growth within a specialist and expanding market.

If you are intellectually curious, commercially minded, and interested in building a career within the quantitative trading recruitment space, we'd love to hear from you. Apply or reach out to dperry@hunterbond.com
