How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quantity Surveyor - Brickwork Packages
    Location: Maidstone, Kent
    Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum (depending on experience)
     
    Hill McGlynn is working in partnership with a well-established and respected bricklaying subcontractor to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team based in Maidstone.
    This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in brickwork packages to join a successful subcontractor delivering high-quality residential and commercial projects across the South East.
     
    The Role
    As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple brickwork packages from pre-construction through to final account. Working closely with the operational and commercial teams, you will ensure projects are delivered profitably while maintaining strong client relationships.
     
    Key Responsibilities

    Managing the commercial aspects of brickwork packages from inception to completion.
    Preparing valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.
    Measuring works and preparing cost reports.
    Managing subcontractor accounts and procurement where required.
    Identifying, pricing, and negotiating variations.
    Monitoring project costs and forecasting financial performance.
    Liaising with site teams, clients, and suppliers to ensure commercial objectives are achieved. Requirements

    Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
    Essential experience managing bricklaying/brickwork packages.
    Strong understanding of subcontractor commercial management.
    Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
    Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    Full UK driving licence. What's on Offer
