How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Refuge Worker

    Salary:             £27,554 FTE per annum (£28,735 FTE for Qualified IDVAs)
    Hours:             37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm (occasional evenings/weekends as required)
    Contract:         Full Time, Fixed term until March 2027
    Location:         Bradford

    About the Role

    As a Refuge Worker, you will provide trauma-informed support to women, children and families living in refuge after experiencing domestic abuse. Working as part of a multi-agency team, you will help service users increase their safety, rebuild confidence and move towards independent living.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Providing practical and emotional support to refuge residents.
    Completing risk and needs assessments and developing support and safety plans.
    Managing a caseload and maintaining accurate case records.
    Working with partner agencies to coordinate support and advocate for service users.
    Supporting clients to access housing, welfare, health and legal services.
    Preparing service users for move-on into safe, independent accommodation.
    Promoting safeguarding and contributing to a safe, supportive refuge environment. 

    Requirements

    Knowledge of domestic abuse, safeguarding and trauma-informed practice.
    Experience supporting vulnerable adults or families within domestic abuse, housing, homelessness or a related service.
    Experience managing a caseload and delivering person-centred support.
    Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills.
    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
