How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Domestic Gas Service & Breakdown Engineer – Norwich, Norfolk

    Location: Norwich, Norfolk
    Salary: £40,000–£46,000 per annum + 1 in 4 Call Out
    (Up to £46,000 for engineers with OFTEC/Oil qualifications)
    Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

    We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Domestic Gas Service & Breakdown Engineer to cover the Norwich, Norfolk area.

    This role involves carrying out servicing, fault finding, and repairs within private residential properties. You will typically complete 6–8 jobs per day, delivering a high standard of workmanship and exceptional customer service. You will also liaise with major insurance providers when required.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Service, diagnose faults, and repair domestic gas boilers and heating systems.

    * Carry out repairs safely and efficiently in private residential properties.

    * Complete 6–8 jobs per day while maintaining a high standard of work.

    * Deliver excellent customer service and build positive relationships with customers.

    * Complete all job reports and documentation accurately.

    * Ensure all work complies with current Gas Safe regulations and industry standards.

    * Communicate effectively with customers, office staff, and insurance providers where required.

    Requirements

    * Valid domestic gas qualifications: CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1, and CKR1 (essential).

    * OFTEC/Oil qualifications are advantageous and attract the higher salary band.

    * Minimum of 3 years' experience in domestic gas service and breakdown work.

    * Full UK Driving Licence.

    * Clean DBS.

    * Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

    * Excellent communication and customer service skills.

    * Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
