How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Learning Support Assistant (Alternative Provision)

    Maldon Area, Essex

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join a forward-thinking alternative provision setting in the Maldon area.

    This is a highly rewarding role supporting children and young people with a wide range of SEND, SEMH, behavioural needs, and experiences of trauma and adversity. The provision is committed to helping pupils re-engage with learning, develop essential social and life skills, and successfully transition into their next stages of education or training.

    The Role

    As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally. You will work closely with teaching staff, SENCO, and leadership teams to deliver tailored interventions and support reintegration into learning.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and acting as a positive role model

    Delivering bespoke intervention programmes and tracking pupil progress

    Supporting teaching and learning, including lesson preparation and resource development

    Using ICT to enhance engagement and learning outcomes

    Promoting positive behaviour and contributing to a safe, structured environment

    Supporting reintegration plans and contributing to pupil transition support

    Recording and reporting on pupil progress, behaviour, and achievement

    Working collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external agencies

    Supporting safeguarding procedures and maintaining a strong awareness of pupil wellbeing

    Participating in training and ongoing professional development, including trauma-informed practice

    The Ideal Candidate Will Have

    Experienced in working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs

    Confident in building positive, consistent relationships with hard-to-reach learners

    Calm, resilient, and able to manage challenging behaviour effectively

    Strong communicators who can work well as part of a team

    Passionate about supporting vulnerable learners to achieve positive outcomes

    Committed to safeguarding, equality, and inclusive practice

    Willing to engage in training and develop professionally within the role

    Experience within education, youth work, care, residential support, or alternative provision would be highly beneficial.
