How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Your new company
A growing and ambitious Catholic Multi-Academy Trust in the North West is expanding its network of schools and strengthening its central services to support continued improvement and innovation. As part of this growth, the Trust is investing in its IT infrastructure and is seeking to appoint a Mobile IT Engineer to join their already well-established and highly performing IT team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and mission-driven organisation committed to delivering high-quality education, where technology plays a key role in enabling staff and pupils to thrive. With schools based across Manchester, this particular cluster of schools you will be supporting are all Oldham-based.
    Your new role
Joining an already established team of Mobile IT Engineers, you will become an integral part of this high-performing team, providing a high level of service to 5 primary schools based across Oldham. As Mobile IT Engineer, you will be providing first-line technical support to staff and students, managing helpdesk tickets, and maintaining a wide range of IT equipment including hardware, software, and audio-visual systems, as well as bespoke educational technologies. Responsibilities also include installing and configuring new technologies, carrying out repairs and upgrades, and maintaining accurate asset registers and documentation. You will contribute to the ongoing development of IT infrastructure, support digital projects such as SharePoint, and ensure all systems meet safeguarding, data protection, and security standards, while working collaboratively to drive continuous improvement in IT services across the Trust. You will spend a day a week in each of your assigned schools, where you will become a key part of their team and work closely with staff and pupils, whilst receiving support from the wider IT team. Please note, as this is a mobile IT Engineer vacancy, you must have your own car and a valid UK driving licence.
    What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this position, you will have first line IT support experience, ideally with specific experience working in the education sector, whether this be at a school, trust, college or working for an education-focused Managed Service Provider. You will be a real team player, working collaboratively with a wider IT team and have a passion for working in the field of IT in education. Strong communication skills and excellent relationship building skills are also required. Please note, as this is a mobile IT Engineer vacancy, you must have your own car and a valid UK driving licence.
    What you'll get in return
In return, you will be paid a salary of £29,000 and receive an excellent benefits package which includes a local government pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement and various additional lifestyle benefits. In addition to this, the Trust is extremely supportive of further development, and therefore offers the opportunity to undertake degree apprenticeships in relevant fields, funded by the trust. As the trust is in a growth phase where they will continue to grow over the coming year, this role also offers further development, training and career opportunities as the team grows in size.
