How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Position: Business and Economics Teacher 

    Location: Redbridge 

    Start date: September 2026 

    Smart Teachers are recruiting for a passionate and knowledgeable Business and Economics Teacher to join a successful and ambitious secondary school from September.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an inspiring teacher to join a thriving department where students are encouraged to develop a strong understanding of business, finance and economics, preparing them for further education and future careers. The successful candidate will teach engaging lessons that develop analytical thinking, commercial awareness and problem-solving skills.

    The Role

    Teach Business Studies across Key Stages 4 and 5.
    Teach Economics at Key Stage 5, with the opportunity to contribute to curriculum development.
    Plan and deliver engaging, challenging lessons that inspire students to achieve their full potential.
    Prepare students for GCSE and A Level examinations, ensuring excellent academic outcomes.
    Assess, monitor and track student progress, providing effective feedback and intervention where required.
    Contribute to enrichment opportunities, enterprise initiatives and the wider life of the department.
    Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.

    The Ideal Candidate

    Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
    Has experience teaching Business Studies to GCSE and Economics to A Level, or the ability to teach both subjects confidently.
    Demonstrates excellent subject knowledge and strong classroom management.
    Has high expectations of students and a commitment to raising attainment.
    Is an enthusiastic and reflective practitioner who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team.
    Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
