How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    The Opportunity

Our client is looking for a Senior Electrical Estimator to join their Leeds office, pricing and tendering electrical packages across education, healthcare, retail, leisure and social housing projects. The role sits within their M&E contracting division, working alongside an experienced pre-construction team. The business itself is broader than M&E alone, with facilities management and cleaning and hygiene services operating under the same group, which reflects a scale and stability that most M&E specialists at this level cannot match.

Based in Leeds, our client is a well-established building services contractor with over a century of trading history and a project portfolio spanning education, healthcare, industrial and commercial, leisure, retail and social housing sectors. This is a permanent Senior Electrical Estimator role, working within an experienced pre-construction team to price and tender electrical packages across a varied client base.

It is a senior position with genuine scope to take ownership of significant tenders, working closely with design, commercial and delivery teams to ensure submissions are accurate, competitive and properly risk-assessed.

    About the Business

Our client has been trading since the early 1920s and has grown into a well-established Yorkshire and North-West building services business, with offices across the region and a head office in South Yorkshire. Their service offering covers mechanical and electrical contracting, facilities management, cleaning and hygiene, and a growing renewables and decarbonisation division, which gives the business a genuinely rounded view of how buildings are built, run and maintained.

Their client base spans retail, professional sport, student accommodation, pharmacy, healthcare and major facilities management partners, reflecting a business that is trusted across both public and private sectors. Accreditations include ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, alongside NICEIC and ECA registration, CHAS Premium Plus and Constructionline Platinum status.

The business has continued to invest in its people and its service offering, including recent senior appointments to strengthen its facilities management capability. For an estimator who wants to work for a business with genuine breadth and a long track record behind it, this is a strong option.

    What You'll Be Doing

    *

Preparing and submitting accurate, competitively priced electrical estimates across a varied portfolio of projects

    *

Taking ownership of significant tenders from receipt of enquiry through to submission

    *

Carrying out take-offs and measurement from drawings and specifications to produce detailed cost build-ups

    *

Sourcing and negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive and accurate pricing

    *

Identifying value engineering opportunities and contributing to buildability reviews during the tender process

    *

Working closely with design, commercial and delivery teams to ensure technical and commercial alignment

    *

Reviewing contract terms and flagging commercial risks ahead of submission

    *

Supporting post-tender negotiations and handover to the delivery team on secured projects

    *

Contributing to the continuous improvement of estimating processes and standards across the team

    What We're Looking For

    *

A strong electrical estimating background within an M&E or electrical contracting environment

    *

Confident leading significant tenders independently, from enquiry through to submission

    *

Proficient in take-off and measurement, with strong attention to detail on technical and commercial accuracy

    *

Experience using estimating software such as Amtech or equivalent

    *

Sound understanding of NEC and/or JCT contract forms

    *

Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with suppliers, design teams and internal stakeholders

    *

    Relevant electrical qualifications

    What's on Offer

    *

    £60,000 - £70,000 depending on experience

    *

    Full company benefits package

    *

A genuinely varied project portfolio across education, healthcare, retail, leisure and social housing sectors

    *

The backing and stability of a business with rare cross-disciplinary scale, spanning construction, facilities management and cleaning and hygiene services

    *

The backing of a century-old, well-established regional business with a strong reputation and growing service offering
