How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Salary: £27,664 - £31,616 per annum DOE
    Hours: 38 hours per week
    Shift Pattern: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am - 4:30pm | Friday, 8:00am - 2:00pm
    CDM Recruitment are working with a well-established manufacturing business to recruit an experienced Stores Person to join their growing team.
    This is an excellent opportunity for someone with stores or warehouse experience who takes pride in maintaining an organised, safe and efficient working environment. You'll play a key role in supporting production by ensuring materials are received, stored, issued and dispatched accurately, helping to keep manufacturing operations running smoothly.
    The Role
    As a Stores Person, your responsibilities will include:
    * Receiving and inspecting incoming deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes.
    * Checking quantities, specifications and the condition of goods received.
    * Accurately storing materials and maintaining clear stock identification.
    * Managing stock levels and carrying out regular stock counts and cycle counts.
    * Picking, preparing and issuing production kits in line with manufacturing schedules.
    * Ensuring production teams receive the correct materials on time.
    * Returning unused materials to stock and updating inventory records.
    * Supporting engineers and production staff with material requests.
    * Preparing, packing and labelling products for dispatch.
    * Completing dispatch documentation accurately.
    * Safely loading and unloading vehicles using appropriate lifting equipment.
    * Operating forklift trucks and other material handling equipment.
    * Assisting with the movement of large switchgear assemblies.
    * Supporting lifting, rigging and HIAB operations where trained.
    * Providing general support across the stores function to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
    About You
    We're looking for someone who has:
    * Previous experience within a stores, warehouse or logistics environment.
    * A valid B1 Forklift Licence.
    * Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
    * Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
    * A proactive approach and a positive attitude towards Health & Safety.
    * The right to work in the UK.
    Desirable Skills
    It would be advantageous if you also have:
    * B2 Forklift Licence.
    * Experience within an electrical manufacturing or switchgear environment.
    * Knowledge of goods-in/goods-out procedures.
    * HIAB licence or previous HIAB experience.
