How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Commissioning Engineer – Water
    Location: United Utilities Region (North West)
    Our client, a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK water sector, is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join their growing Water division. This is an excellent opportunity to work on long-term clean water and wastewater projects as part of a highly respected engineering team.
    The successful candidate will be responsible for commissioning electrical, instrumentation, control and automation systems (EICA/MEICA), ensuring assets are safely tested, commissioned and handed over to the client.
    The Role
    As a Commissioning Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
    * Planning and carrying out commissioning activities on water and wastewater treatment projects.
    * Commissioning electrical, instrumentation, control and automation (EICA) systems.
    * Functional testing, loop checking and fault finding.
    * Commissioning pumps, motors, MCCs, control panels and process equipment.
    * Testing and commissioning PLC, SCADA and telemetry systems.
    * Working with level, flow, pressure and analytical instrumentation.
    * Producing commissioning documentation, test records and handover packs.
    * Liaising with project managers, site teams, subcontractors and client representatives.
    * Supporting project delivery to programme while maintaining the highest health and safety standards.
    * Identifying and resolving commissioning issues to ensure successful project completion.
    Requirements
    Applicants should have experience within the UK water industry in a commissioning, electrical, controls or automation role.
    You should have experience with:
    * Water and/or wastewater treatment projects.
    * Commissioning MEICA or EICA systems.
    * PLCs, SCADA and telemetry systems.
    * Profibus or similar industrial communication protocols.
    * Level, pressure, flow and process instrumentation.
    * Electrical fault finding and functional testing.
    * Control panels, MCCs and automation systems.
    Qualifications
    * HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
    * CSCS/ECS card (desirable).
    * SMSTS or SSSTS (advantageous).
    * Full UK Driving Licence.
