How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Hays are now looking for a DevOps Engineer (AWS) for one of our local clients:

    £560 p/d Inside IR35
    1-2 days p/w in the office, reducing over time
    London, Leicester or Manchester
    Active SC Clearance or eligibility to undergo clearance is highly desirable
    We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to support a large-scale cloud transformation programme. You will play a key role in the design, automation, and migration of critical database platform services into AWS, helping modernise legacy environments and deliver secure, scalable cloud solutions.

    What You'll Be Doing

    Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD and GitOps practices
    Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
    Support the containerisation and migration of legacy applications into Kubernetes environments
    Deploy and manage Kubernetes workloads using Helm and ArgoCD
    Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to improve build, deployment and operational processes
    Enhance version control, artifact management and deployment automation
    Ensure solutions follow AWS best practices for security, scalability and reliability
    Contribute to High-Level Design (HLD) activities and technical prototyping
    What We're Looking For

    Strong background in DevOps engineering and automation-first delivery
    Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD, ArgoCD/GitOps and Helm
    Proven expertise in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
    Strong Kubernetes and containerisation experience
    Experience designing and supporting solutions within AWS cloud environments
    Ability to work effectively within large-scale transformation or cloud migration programmes
    Strong stakeholder engagement and cross-team collaboration skills
    Understanding of secure delivery within regulated environments is desirable
    Active SC Clearance or eligibility to undergo clearance is highly desirable
