How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a specialist engineering team based in Watford.

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys practical engineering, fault finding and working on a wide variety of mechanical systems. Rather than carrying out routine maintenance, you'll be involved in building, modifying and maintaining bespoke mechanical and HVAC test rigs used to support innovative engineering projects.

No two days are the same, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a technically interesting and varied role.

    The Role

Build, modify and maintain mechanical and HVAC test rigs.

    *

Install and modify pipework, pumps, valves and mechanical equipment.

    *

Read and interpret engineering drawings and schematic diagrams.

    *

Assemble and adapt test equipment using mechanical fitting, plumbing and fabrication skills.

    *

Support the setup and operation of engineering test programmes.

    *

Record test results and complete technical reports.

    *

Work closely with engineers to continually improve testing equipment and processes.

    *

Maintain workshop equipment and ensure high standards of health and safety.

    *

The ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.

    *

    A practical, hands-on approach.

    *

Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Experience with electrical wiring, controls, instrumentation or fabrication would be advantageous but is not essential.

    Benefits

    *

    Competitive salary with annual reviews.

    *

    Employer pension contribution.

    *

    Life assurance.

    *
