How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Salary: £40,000 to £50,000 per year, depending on experience
    Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Concept Projects Group is looking for a proactive and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering project team.

This is a varied, hands-on role supporting projects across a range of industrial and blue-chip client sites, primarily across the Wirral and wider North West.

The role can vary from week to week. Some weeks may involve practical site-based work, installation support, mechanical modifications, movement and positioning of equipment, and general project delivery. Other weeks may involve more detailed mechanical engineering work, problem-solving, fabrication, technical support, design input and work from concept through to installation.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in fast-paced client environments, including FMCG, food production, pharmaceutical, packaging, construction, manufacturing and wider industrial settings.

This role would suit someone with strong practical mechanical skills, good technical understanding, and the flexibility to support a wide range of mechanical tasks across live client sites.

    Responsibilities Include

    * Support mechanical activities across industrial and blue-chip client sites, working with Project Managers, clients and site teams

    * Provide practical mechanical engineering solutions from design through to installation

    * Maintain, repair and modify manufacturing equipment, production machinery and mechanical systems

    * Repair and overhaul mechanical items including motors, pumps, valves, bearings, shafts and rotating equipment

    * Carry out fitting, fabrication, bench work, assembly, mechanical modification and snagging tasks

    * Assemble and fit mechanical components and systems in line with technical drawings

    * Work with site utilities including compressed air, steam and water systems, within agreed limits of design and competence

    * Operate or support the use of fabrication and workshop equipment, including cutting, welding, drilling and machining tools

    * Use, or be trained to use, plant and access equipment such as FLTs, MEWPs, scissor lifts and other site equipment

    * Ensure work is carried out safely and in line with client site rules, company procedures, industry regulations and quality standards

    Skills and Experience Required

    * Previous experience in a similar hands-on mechanical role

    * Recognised apprenticeship or time-served background in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline

    * Strong hand tool skills, including bench fitting

    * Strong understanding of machining processes, engineering material properties and engineering design principles

    * Strong problem-solving, Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement skills

    * Strong understanding of working safely, risk perception and site safety requirements

    * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, including CAD drawings where required

    * Experience working with pumps, motors, rotating equipment, general mechanical systems, manufacturing equipment or production machinery

    * Experience working in fast-paced industrial environments, such as FMCG, food production, pharmaceutical, packaging, construction or manufacturing

    * Ability to work independently with a brief from a client or Project Manager, while also working well as part of a team

    * Good communication skills and basic Microsoft Office skills, including the ability to write reports and interact with spreadsheets

    Desirable

    * Experience working from MEWPs and scissor lifts

    * Experience working in a blue-chip factory environment

    * IOSH certification

    What We Offer

    * Remuneration package: £40,000 to £50,000 per year, dependent on experience

    * 23 days holiday plus bank holidays, increasing to 25 days after probation period, company pension, Private Health Care and Life Assurance

    * Regular training and development opportunities, gym membership to support your well-being, friendly supportive team environment and social events
