How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Description

    We would like to present you with an exciting opportunity for a Transport Planner to join our team in Markham Vale on a full time permanent basis.

    Salary: £31,804 per annum.

    Working hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.

    As Transport Planner you will oversee the day to day planning of the transport operation. A highly motivated and driven individual, you will be experienced at working in a busy transport department, able to deal with day to day challenges and provide cost effective solutions to the customer. 

    Key Duties of a Transport Planner:

    Subcontracting and planning orders out of multiple warehouse facilities and manufacturing sites across the UK.
    Complete compliance administration to support Transport Manager’s daily / weekly tasks.
    Planning daily workload for a fleet: vehicles based on and off site.
    Dealing with queries and issues by telephone, fax and email from our customers, sub-contract hauliers and warehousing sites. 
    Liaising with Traffic and Administration teams to ensure the highest standards of performance are maintained at all times.
    Maintaining, creating and updating spreadsheets and databases for customer reports.
    Reporting problems and dealing with issues and any queries that arise.
    Support the fleet and driver training team as and when required.
    Complete pre and post de-brief for all driver shifts.
    Deliver effective, professional and timely internal and external communications.

    Qualifications

    Be able to demonstrate a high level of transport planning expertise in a busy and demanding environment.
    Have excellent problem solving, analytical and organisational skills.
    Be able to make decisions under pressure, and to a tight timescale.
    Have a flexible and adaptable approach to working in order to meet the requirements of the business, particularly at peak periods during the year. 
    Be able to communicate well at all levels within the business.
    Have the ability to identify and suggest improvements to benefit both the Company and our customer.
    Be a highly motivated individual able to work as part of a small friendly team, and under own initiative.
    Knowledge of SAP, BPCS and Road Runner would be advantageous.
