How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Contract: Full time, permanent
    Start Date: September 2026 (subject to DBS and checks)
    About the Role
    We are seeking an experienced and ambitious leader to head our boarding and residential provision at The Marchant-Holliday School.
    This is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping a high-quality, trauma-informed residential environment for boys aged 5–14 with SEMH needs. Boarding is central to our ethos—supporting pupils’ independence, wellbeing and personal development through relationships, routines and experiences beyond the classroom.
    You will lead a dedicated residential team and ensure boarding is safe, nurturing, aspirational and fully integrated with education and therapy.
    Key Responsibilities
    * Lead and develop a high-quality 24-hour residential curriculum
    * Oversee safeguarding, care standards and residential operations
    * Lead, support and develop the boarding team
    * Deliver an engaging programme of activities, trips and experiences
    * Promote independence, wellbeing and preparation for adulthood
    * Ensure consistent, relational and high-expectation practice
    Working Pattern
    Live-in role (Monday–Friday), 37.5 hours:
    * Mon: 2:00–9:00pm
    * Tue–Thu: 7:00–9:00am & 2:00–9:00pm
    * Fri: 7:00–10:30am
    Residence required Monday–Thursday nights during term time. Overnight support is provided by residential staff and SLT on-call.
    About You
    You will have leadership experience in boarding, residential care or youth services, with a strong understanding of SEMH and trauma-informed practice. You are relational, consistent, and able to lead both strategically and operationally. A full UK driving licence is required.
    Accommodation
    A self-contained, single-occupancy flat is provided on-site. Meals available in term time. Accommodation is for sole occupancy only.
    Benefits
    * 10 weeks holiday
    * 10% pension contribution
    * Extensive CPD and training
    * Strong wellbeing support
    * Excellent facilities and staff wellbeing culture
    Safeguarding
    Enhanced DBS required. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
