How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Norfolk County Council is seeking an outstanding Consultant in Public Health to join its ambitious and well-established Public Health team.
This is an exciting opportunity to provide strategic leadership across a large and diverse county, working with partners across local government, the NHS, the voluntary sector and communities to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities.
The post has arisen following the promotion of the previous postholder and offers the opportunity to influence major public health priorities at both local and system level.
    About the Role
As a Consultant in Public Health, you will support the Director of Public Health in delivering Norfolk County Council’s statutory public health responsibilities and wider ambitions to improve population health and wellbeing.
Portfolio responsibilities will be agreed with the successful candidate and are likely to include leadership of specific public health priorities, alongside locality-based partnership working within Norfolk.
Current areas where consultant leadership is particularly valuable include mental health and wellbeing, healthy ageing and reducing health inequalities, although portfolios evolve to reflect organisational priorities and individual strengths.
    What You'll Be Doing
    * Providing strategic leadership to improve population health and reduce inequalities
    * Supporting the Director of Public Health in fulfilling statutory responsibilities
    * Leading major public health programmes and partnerships across Norfolk
    * Influencing decision-makers across local government, the NHS and wider partners
    * Using evidence, intelligence and research to drive policy and service improvement
    * Providing specialist public health advice to commissioners and system leaders
    * Working with elected members, senior leaders and communities to embed prevention and improve wellbeing
    Requirements
    * Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register, GDC Specialist List or UK Public Health Register (UKPHR), or be within six months of registration at the time of interview in accordance with current appointments guidance
    * MFPH (or equivalent)
    * Significant experience of delivering change and influencing across organisational boundaries
    * Strong strategic leadership and partnership-working skills
    * Excellent analytical, communication and influencing abilities
    * Experience of translating complex public health evidence into action and outcomes
    * A commitment to reducing inequalities and improving population health
