How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Birmingham (Hybrid Working - Driving Required)
    📅 6-Month Contract

    About the Role

    We are currently recruiting four Schools Finance Officers to support Birmingham-based schools and academies in delivering effective financial management and governance.This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with headteachers, school Business Managers, and governing bodies, providing expert financial advice and strategic support across a range of educational settings.

    Key Responsibilities

    Provide financial support and advice to schools and academies to ensure effective budget management
    Undertake budget planning and financial monitoring visits, including schools with local payment and cheque book facilities
    Produce accurate and timely financial reports for Governing Bodies and senior leadership teams
    Attend and present at Governing Body and Finance Committee meetings
    Support schools with financial systems and interpretation of financial data
    Identify and implement process and system improvements
    Build strong relationships with stakeholders across schools, academies, and external organisations
    Ensure delivery of services in line with Service Level Agreements and contracts
    What We're Looking For

    You will be a detail-oriented finance professional with a strong understanding of school funding and financial practices. You'll be confident working independently while building strong relationships with a range of stakeholders, ensuring schools are supported to achieve effective and compliant financial management.

    Essential Requirements

    Proven experience in school financial management, including budget preparation and budgetary control
    Strong understanding of school finance systems and processes
    Experience producing financial monitoring reports and presenting to senior stakeholders
    Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
    Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across BirminghamSystems Experience (Essential)Experience using one or more of the following:
