How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Designing test rigs and related strategies for sensor characterisation

This role combines practical electronics, mechanical and software aspects to develop test rigs for the verification and characterisation of novel sensors, so you will need to be an experienced and adaptable hardware test engineer, and happy taking the initiative on coming up with solutions.

This is a varied role requiring hands-on on engineering skills - you should be adept at fabricating mechanical fixture, creating custom circuitry / cabling, writing basic software tools and scripts, data analysis and presentation of the results. You will become an expert in the company's sensor designs as well as inventing clever ways to test their functionality.

Tasks may include designing and building electromechanical test rigs, specifying and carrying out automated and manual test campaigns for functionality verification and device characterisation. You'll help troubleshoot any issues that may arise, analyse results, and create and maintain relevant documentation.

    You will need:

    * Practical electronics and mechanical skills for designing and building fixtures or jigs, preferably with experience using a CAD package such as SolidWorks

    * Good familiarity with standard electronics test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes etc.)

    * Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

    * Strong communication skills and the ability to write clear concise documentation

    * Full existing UK work permission without time restriction or the need for sponsorship

This role would suit an engineer with a broad skillset and inventive turn of mind, as it offers a variety of interesting challenges and opportunities for creative thought, and the chance to make a major impact to this ambitious and growing company. A competitive salary and benefits package will be available to the successful candidate.

Keywords: Electronics Test, Software Test, Data Analysis, Python, Sensors, Cambridge.
