How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

O&M Solar Technician - Power the Future of Renewable Energy

If you're driven by hands‑on technical work, thrive outdoors, and want to play a meaningful role in the UK's clean‑energy transition, this O&M Solar Technician position offers the perfect blend of challenge, autonomy, and long‑term growth.

Working closely with the Operations Manager, you'll take ownership of maintaining and optimising ground‑mount solar farms - ensuring they operate safely, efficiently, and at peak performance. Your days will be varied: from electrical testing and fault‑finding to mentoring teammates and managing subcontractors on site. This is a role for someone who enjoys responsibility, values precision, and takes pride in delivering high‑quality work.

    What You'll Be Doing

Solar array installation - installing cabling and modules across ground‑mount systems.
Cable termination - completing DC and AC terminations at distribution boxes.
Monitoring system setup - installing cabling for data loggers, routers, sensors, and comms equipment.
Fault identification - diagnosing electrical, comms, and monitoring issues using industry‑standard testing equipment.
Annual testing routines - including string testing, DC main cable testing, IV curve testing, and thermal imaging.
AC inspection - testing and inspecting newly installed AC equipment to BS7671 standards.
Reporting & documentation - compiling reports and updating ticketing systems.
Subcontractor management - overseeing onsite contractors and ensuring safe, compliant work.
Small works support - assisting Asset and Operations Managers with quotations.
Team collaboration - working alongside electricians, labourers, and site managers.
Health & Safety routines - completing H&S actions as required.
Training & mentoring - supporting the development of junior team members.
On‑call support - participating in the weekend rota.

    Skills & Experience You'll Bring

Strong working knowledge of photovoltaic systems; HV experience highly desirable.
Confident using AC/DC electrical test equipment, including MC4 crimpers and PV‑specific tooling.
Comfortable with Microsoft Office, tablets/phones, and digital reporting systems.
Solid understanding of Health & Safety regulations.
Minimum two years' experience in Solar PV installation or maintenance.
Level 3 Technical Certificate in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
NVQ Level 3 in the electrical industry.
    NET AM2 certificate.
    Level 3 BS7671:2018 (18th Edition).
    2391 Test & Inspection (desirable).
    ECS Electrician Card (desirable).
AP/SAP, SMSTS, or HV/AP experience (desirable).

    What's In It For You

Interesting, varied projects in a fast‑growing renewable energy sector.
    Flexible working hours.
24 days holiday plus bank holidays.
Pension contributions via the NEST scheme.
    Private healthcare and life assurance.
A supportive team with flat hierarchies and room to grow.

If you are a skilled Electrical Technician who takes pride in precision, thrives outdoors, and wants to be part of a sector that's growing fast, we want to hear from you. Step into a role where your expertise keeps renewable energy moving - and where your development is genuinely valued.

Bring your technical ability, your problem‑solving mindset, and your drive for high‑quality work. In return, you'll join a supportive team, work on exciting projects, and help shape the future of clean energy across the UK.

Apply today and take the next step in your solar career.
