How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading infrastructure service provider within the Water and Wastewater sector for an experienced Civil Project Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing capital delivery team responsible for delivering key projects across the Anglian Water framework.

    The successful candidate will support the delivery of multiple civil and MEICA projects, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in line with client requirements and industry regulations. This role is based in Colchester with regular travel across East Anglia and offers a mixture of office and site-based working.

    Responsibilities of the Civil Project Engineer:

    * Deliver civil and MEICA projects in line with programme, budget, specification and client requirements

    * Support the Project Delivery Manager with the successful delivery of multiple capital projects whilst ensuring compliance with all contractual, statutory, environmental and health & safety requirements

    * Monitor project progress and identify risks impacting cost, quality or programme

    * Raise Early Warning Notices (EWNs) and Change Requests where required

    * Capture and record asset changes including decommissioning, alterations and new assets within corporate systems

    * Liaise with clients, stakeholders, contractors and operational teams throughout project delivery

    * Attend site visits and oversee works to ensure quality and compliance standards are achieved whilst supporting project planning, reporting and documentation processes

    * Drive continuous improvement and identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency across projects

    * Contribute to the successful delivery of clean water and wastewater treatment projects across the Anglian Water network

    Required Skills and Experience of the Civil Project Engineer:

    * Engineering qualification (NVQ, BTEC, HNC/HND or Degree level)

    * Previous experience within an engineering, utilities, infrastructure or construction environment

    * Customer-facing experience with the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships

    * Knowledge of civil engineering and project delivery principles

    * Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

    * Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within project teams

    * Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

    * Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

    * Full UK Driving Licence

    * Willingness to travel regularly across East Anglia

    * Located within a commutable distance of Colchester

    Desirable Experience:

    * Experience delivering water, wastewater or utilities projects

    * Understanding of NEC contracts and change management processes

    * Knowledge of MEICA project delivery and experience working within regulated infrastructure environments
