How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Cleaner

    £13.08-13.84 per hour

    Full time and Part time roles available

    Hours – Various available between 7.30am – 6.30pm

    The Role

    As a General Cleaner, you will provide a high-quality cleaning service across a variety of police premises, including offices, welfare facilities, communal areas, operational environments and custody suites.

    Working as part of a professional facilities team, you will help ensure that Bedfordshire Police buildings remain clean, hygienic and welcoming for staff, detainees, visitors and members of the public.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Deliver high standards of cleaning across police buildings and facilities.

    * Carry out vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, dusting and sanitising duties.

    * Clean welfare facilities, communal areas, offices and operational environments.

    * Empty bins and manage waste disposal appropriately.

    * Replenish consumables including soap, hand towels and toilet rolls.

    * Complete cleaning records and task logs accurately.

    * Follow infection prevention and touchpoint cleaning procedures.

    * Use cleaning chemicals, equipment and PPE safely in accordance with COSHH regulations.

    * Identify and report maintenance issues, hazards or security concerns.

    * Support urgent and reactive cleaning requirements when operational needs arise.

    * Assist with periodic deep cleans and specialist cleaning activities when required.

    What We're Looking For

    We're seeking candidates who take pride in their work and can consistently deliver high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

    Essential Requirements

    * Previous cleaning experience or the ability to maintain consistent cleaning standards.

    * Knowledge of hygiene practices and safe use of cleaning products.

    * Understanding of Health & Safety requirements.

    * Ability to follow procedures, schedules and instructions.

    * Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.

    * Good communication skills.

    * Basic IT skills, including email and electronic timesheets.

    * Ability to regularly stand, bend, move equipment and undertake physical cleaning duties.

    * Willingness to undergo security vetting

    Working Environment

    This role offers the opportunity to work within a unique and varied environment where every day is different. Successful candidates may be required to clean operational policing areas, including custody environments, and will be expected to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality at all times.

    Flexibility may occasionally be required to support operational priorities, urgent cleaning requirements or activities outside normal office hours.

    Security & Vetting

    Due to the sensitive nature of police environments, successful applicants will be required to successfully pass security Vetting prior to appointment.
