How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Pay rate - £95 - £120 per day

Horizon Teachers are working with a forward-thinking Pupil Referral Unit in Brent that supports secondary-aged pupils who are unable to access mainstream education due to social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

They are now seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join their team!

This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting vulnerable children and young people across a broad age range, helping them re-engage with education and develop positive behaviours

    About the Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will support pupils aged approximately 11–16, providing both academic and pastoral support tailored to individual needs. You will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to implement effective behaviour strategies, promote emotional regulation, and encourage positive engagement with learning.

The role requires flexibility, patience, and a calm, consistent approach, as you will be supporting pupils with a wide range of complex behavioural and emotional needs.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Providing 1:1 and small group behaviour support across primary and secondary phases.
    • Supporting pupils in managing behaviour, emotions, and engagement in learning.
    • Implementing tailored behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques.
    • Building strong, positive relationships with pupils to encourage trust and progress.
    • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff.
    • Contributing to a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.

    Requirements

    • Previous experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour.
    • Experience supporting either primary, secondary, or mixed-age cohorts.
    • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
    • A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach.
    • Ability to build rapport with pupils who may be disengaged from education.
    • Team Teach (or similar) qualification is desirable, but not essential.

    Why Horizon Teachers?

    • One-to-one support from a dedicated and experienced education consultant
    • Free accredited safeguarding training as part of your registration
    • Referral bonuses available: £150 for referring a TA/support worker, £300 for referring a teacher (T&Cs apply)
    • A highly trusted agency with an excellent 4.8* Google rating
