How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Your new company
    Hays have been approached by a local school in the Wigan area to help them with their search for a Year 1 Class Teacher. The school are looking for a reliable and experienced class teacher who can come in and hit the ground running within this lovely Year 1 Class. This school is rated Ofsted 'Good' and places an emphasis on pushing pupils to achieve their potential, which is also a quality the right candidate should possess. This role will be full-time starting in September through until December as a minimum, with the potential for this to be extended until the end of the academic year. ECT/NQT's will be considered for the role.
    Your new role
    In this new role, you will be given full teaching responsibilities for the class, including planning, delivering and marking work to assess pupil ability. You should be flexible and adaptable and be able to suit your lessons to the needs of the children, based on ability. You will be working collaboratively with teaching assistants and the KS1 team to create a productive and welcoming learning environment. You will be expected to conduct/attend parents' evenings and any extra staff meetings or training days. This year 1 class has a diverse range of pupils from different backgrounds, with various levels of ability. You should have strong behaviour management skills. However, the behaviour and progression within the class is good.

    What you'll need to succeed
    In order to be successful in securing this position, you must possess Qualified Teacher Status and have good knowledge of the KS1 Curriculum. You need to be a good team player, have good time management and behaviour management skills. NQTs/ECTs are welcome to apply for the role.
    If you are not a qualified teacher, but have recent experience working with children, we may have other roles available for you.
