How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you a passionate Primary Teacher looking for a truly rewarding role? This exciting contract position in Shifnal allows you to use your nurturing approach and Primary teaching expertise to transform the lives of secondary-aged students with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. If you want to focus on relationships, individual progress, and holistic development in a specialist supportive setting, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

    What's in it for you?

Join a therapeutic, specialist learning environment where building trusting relationships is at the core of what you do.
Work as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team fully committed to improving outcomes for young people facing significant challenges.
Your input will make a genuine difference—both academically and emotionally—for every student you teach.

    The Role

This is not a traditional secondary teaching role. The school is specifically seeking a Primary-trained teacher due to the nurturing, holistic, and therapeutic approach required. You will be delivering a broad, differentiated curriculum to small groups of secondary-aged students, all working at various academic levels.

    Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet the emotional, behavioural and academic needs of each student.
Create a calm, structured and supportive learning environment by using restorative and therapeutic approaches.
Respond effectively to students’ social, emotional, and mental health needs, adapting where necessary.
Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals, implementing behaviour support plans and promoting positive student outcomes.

    Skills and Experience

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a Primary teaching qualification is essential.
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, in alternative provision or nurture settings is highly desirable.
Excellent behaviour management skills and strong emotional resilience.
Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students to support their progress both in and out of the classroom.

    Location and Package

    Location: Shifnal
    Contract: From 01 September 2026
    Salary: £160 - £200 per day

If you are ready to make a real difference and bring your Primary teaching expertise to a specialist SEMH environment, this role is for you. Dedicated and adaptable teachers who are driven by a sense of purpose and impact are encouraged to apply
