How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Plumber

    Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

Agency: Search Consultancy (Construction & Trades Division)

Payment Terms: £24.00 per hour (CIS / Subcontractor Basis, Weekly Pay)

Start Date: Immediate (Subject to reference verification)

    Position Type: Full-Time Contract

    Duration: Ongoing long-term work

    The Opportunity

Search Consultancy's Construction and Trades Division is currently partnering with a premier North East mechanical services contractor to recruit a time-served, highly skilled Commercial Plumber for active developments centrally located in Newcastle.

This is a premium contract offering an immediate start and a consistent, ongoing run of local work across large-scale commercial developments. The project demands a trades-person who possesses a meticulous eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to maintain exceptional production rates alongside other active site trades. For a reliable, local plumber, this position offers excellent stability and long-term continuity of work close to home.

    Remuneration & Financials

CIS Rate: £24.00 per hour (Gross assignment rate)

Payment Frequency: Processed accurately every single Friday via our dedicated payroll desk, ensuring reliable weekly cash flow with zero hidden administrative or umbrella fees.

    Comprehensive Key Responsibilities

Operating within a fast-paced commercial environment, your daily schedule will demand high efficiency, technical competence, and seamless collaboration with site management and the mechanical foreman. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

First & Second Fix Installations: Installing commercial plumbing systems, including copper and plastic pipework, crimp systems, soil and waste configurations, sanitary ware, and drainage loops.

Commercial Heating & Distribution: Assisting with the installation of commercial heating infrastructure, hot and cold water distribution pipework, booster sets, and radiator networks according to project specifications.

Technical Blueprint Reading: Interpreting complex mechanical drawings, isometric schematics, and technical specs to route, measure, and bracket pipework accurately.

Testing & Commissioning Prep: Conducting pressure testing of installations, systematically identifying and resolving any leaks or pressure drops prior to second-fix closures.

Health & Safety Compliance: Strict adherence to site safety protocols, maintaining a clean and organized working bay, managing materials efficiently to reduce waste, and working safely alongside other active trades.

    Rigid Candidate Requirements

To maintain the high standards required on this project, candidates must explicitly meet the following criteria prior to deployment:

Valid CSCS / JIB Card: A valid Blue (Skilled Worker) or Gold (Advanced Craft) CSCS card or JIB-PMES registration card is mandatory for site access and will be verified beforehand.

Industry Experience: A proven, demonstrable track record working as a plumber on live commercial construction sites, major new builds, or large-scale commercial fit-outs.

Qualifications: Time-served or relevant NVQ Level 2/3 or City & Guilds qualifications in Plumbing and Domestic/Commercial Heating.

Complete Trade Kit: Possession of a full, professional kit of plumbing hand tools and cordless power tools suitable for commercial installations.

Full 5-Point PPE: Ownership of standard site protective equipment (Hard hat, high-vis jacket/vest, steel toe-cap boots with adequate ankle support, protective gloves, and safety glasses).

Professional References: Ability to provide the contact details of a recent Site Manager, mechanical foreman, or supervisor who can verify your quality of work, speed, and attendance.

Right to Work: Verifiable right to work within the United Kingdom.

    Why Partner with Search Consultancy?

Local Stability: This contract is based entirely within the Newcastle area, offering a reliable local commute and significantly reducing your travel overheads.

Dedicated Support: You will have a direct line to a specialist construction consultant who understands your trade and actively manages your contract.

The Search Pipeline: Search is a preferred labour supplier across the North East. Subcontractors who exhibit excellent reliability, punctuality, and top-tier craftsmanship are systematically prioritised for seamless transition onto subsequent long-term commercial, industrial, and mechanical contracts in the local area as existing projects close out.

Search is an equal opportunities recruiter and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified applicants, regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age
