How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    My client is a high-growth construction technology business delivering an integrated hardware and software platform to the construction sector. With circa 50 staff, the company is scaling rapidly across the UK and internationally, operating across multiple entities with ambitious expansion plans.

    As Finance Director, you will take full ownership of the finance function, leading financial strategy, governance, and operational control within a scaling, international business.

    Reporting directly to the Founders, you will initially operate as the standalone finance lead, with scope to build out the function as the company grows. This role requires a hands-on, commercially astute finance professional experienced in high-growth environments.

    The business operates a hybrid software and deployed hardware model, so experience within SaaS or technology-led businesses - particularly those with recurring revenue and hardware elements - would be advantageous.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead overall financial strategy and partner with Founders on growth planning and decision-making.
    • Deliver board-level reporting, forecasting, and financial insight.
    • Oversee all financial operations including accounting, VAT, payroll, statutory reporting, and compliance.
    • Lead budgeting, reforecasting, and cash flow management.
    • Manage financial reporting across multiple entities and support international expansion.
    • Implement scalable financial systems, controls, and reporting processes.
    • Build out the finance function as the business continues to grow.

    Essential Requirements

    • Experience within a high-growth start-up or scale-up environment.
    • Experience as the senior / lead finance person in a growing business.
    • Multi-entity and international experience.
    • Background in SaaS or technology-led businesses.
    • Hands-on approach, comfortable as a standalone finance lead.
    • Strong commercial acumen and financial modelling skills.
    • Solid understanding of UK statutory reporting and compliance.
    • Confident working alongside Founders and at board level.

    Desirable

    • Experience within a private equity or investment-backed business.
    • Exposure to software + hardware revenue models.
    • Experience building or scaling a finance function.
    • Professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
