How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client is a highly successful, people-focused organisation based in South Manchester with operations across multiple jurisdictions. Having delivered consistent 10% year-on-year growth for the last five years, the business is continuing its expansion and is seeking an ambitious Financial Controller to play a key role in supporting its next phase of growth.

    This is a highly visible position within the finance function, offering exposure to senior leadership and a genuine opportunity to progress.

    Description

    You will take ownership of the group's financial reporting and compliance activities, ensuring all statutory and regulatory obligations are met across multiple territories.

    The role will have a strong external reporting focus, with responsibility for consolidating the financial results of a number of subsidiaries and managing relationships with external advisors and auditors across the group's international footprint.

    Responsibilities will include:

    Preparation of the annual consolidated financial statements for the group
    Management of statutory accounts across all group entities
    Oversight of annual audits and coordination with external auditors
    Responsibility for corporation tax returns, VAT returns and other compliance reporting
    Preparation and review of group reporting requirements
    Monitoring and managing financial compliance risks across the group
    Leading the year-end reporting process and supporting wider finance projects
    Managing, mentoring and developing a small team
    Supporting the ongoing development and improvement of financial controls, processes and reportingProfile

    ACA or ACCA Qualified
    3-5 years' experience in a Financial Controller or similar financial reporting role
    Previous experience within a medium-sized business environment
    Background in a service-led, people-focused organisation
    Experience working within an international or multi-entity group structure
    Strong technical accounting and statutory reporting expertise
