How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Primary Supply Teacher – Leeds

Every classroom is different. Every child has their own story. Every day is a chance to make a difference.

Whether you're introducing a new concept, calming first-day nerves or inspiring a child to believe in themselves, great teachers leave a lasting impression—even if they're only in the classroom for a day.

If you're a qualified Primary Teacher looking for flexible work across Leeds and the surrounding areas, Academic Appointments would love to hear from you.

We work with a wide range of welcoming primary schools, offering everything from day-to-day supply to longer-term placements. Whether you're looking for flexibility, variety or your next long-term opportunity, we'll help you find the right fit.

    Your Role

As a Supply Teacher, you'll step into classrooms with confidence, creating positive learning experiences that keep children engaged and learning. From Early Years through to Key Stage 2, you'll play an important role in maintaining continuity, supporting pupil progress and helping schools thrive.

No two placements are the same—but every one is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

    What You'll Be Doing

    * Deliver engaging lessons that inspire curiosity and a love of learning.

    * Create a calm, inclusive and positive classroom environment where every child feels valued.

    * Adapt teaching to meet the individual needs of all learners.

    * Build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents.

    * Promote high standards of behaviour through positive classroom management.

    * Assess learning and provide feedback where appropriate.

    * Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development.

    * Work collaboratively with school staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for children.

    * Follow school policies and maintain high standards of safeguarding at all times.

    We're Looking For Teachers Who...

    * Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

    * Have recent experience teaching in UK primary schools.

    * Have strong knowledge of the National Curriculum across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

    * Can quickly adapt to different classrooms and school environments.

    * Deliver engaging, inclusive lessons that meet the needs of all learners.

    * Build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues from day one.

    * Demonstrate excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.

    * Are reliable, professional and passionate about primary education.

    * Can provide recent professional references.

    * Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or are willing to obtain one.

    Why Choose Academic Appointments?

We understand that supply teaching is about more than filling gaps—it's about giving talented teachers the flexibility to do what they love while supporting schools that value their expertise.
