How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    School Administration & Finance Officer

    Location: Sutton, Surrey
    Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)
    Contract: Full Time, Permanent
    Start Date: ASAP

    About the Role

    We are seeking an experienced and highly organised School Administration & Finance Officer to join our friendly and supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with strong administrative and financial experience within a school environment who is confident using SIMS and understands the day-to-day operational and financial requirements of a busy school.

    The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the school's administration and finance functions while providing excellent support to staff, pupils, parents and external stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities

    Administration

    *

    Manage the school's Management Information System (SIMS), ensuring pupil and staff records are accurate and up to date.

    *

    Process admissions, leavers and pupil data in accordance with statutory requirements.

    *

    Produce reports and maintain school records.

    *

    Support the Senior Leadership Team with administrative tasks.

    *

    Ensure compliance with GDPR and school policies.

    Finance

    *

    Process purchase orders, invoices and supplier payments.

    *

    Reconcile bank accounts and financial records.

    *

    Monitor budgets and expenditure.

    *

    Manage income collection, including trips, clubs and other school payments.

    *

    Liaise with suppliers and resolve invoice queries.

    *

    Support month-end and year-end financial procedures.

    *

    Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with school financial regulations.

    Essential Requirements

    *

    Previous administration and finance experience within a UK school.

    *

    Strong working knowledge of SIMS.

    *

    Experience using school finance systems (such as FMS, PS Financials or similar).

    *

    Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).

    *

    Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.

    *

    Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.

    Desirable

    *

    Knowledge of school admissions processes.

    *

    Experience working within local authority or academy schools.
