How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial & Domestic Gas Engineer to join our growing building services team, working across London and the Home Counties.

This is a varied mobile role covering planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive breakdowns, remedial works, quoted works and new installations across a diverse portfolio of commercial and domestic properties.

You'll work independently while also collaborating closely with our office team, estate managers, site staff and specialist subcontractors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.

We believe in looking after our engineers. While contracted hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, you're not expected to spend unnecessary hours travelling. Depending on your work location, you'll generally leave site between 3:00pm and 4:00pm to begin your journey home.

    Key Responsibilities

    Gas Maintenance & Servicing

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), servicing, diagnostics and reactive repairs on both domestic and commercial gas systems.

Service, maintain and repair boilers, warm air units, plant room equipment, radiant heaters and hot water systems.

Carry out flue gas analysis and combustion performance checks.

Replace or repair defective components, ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Ensure all work is completed in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and current industry standards.

    Installations & Commissioning

Install boilers, heating systems, gas pipework, commercial plant and associated mechanical equipment.

Commission new gas appliances in line with manufacturer instructions and current regulations.

Carry out heating system upgrades, alterations and Gas Safe isolations.

Complete quoted works and new installation projects to a high standard.

    Fault Finding & Diagnostics

Diagnose faults across domestic and commercial gas appliances, controls and mechanical plant.

Carry out effective repairs and identify the root cause of system failures.

Produce clear reports detailing identified faults, recommended corrective actions and any further works required.

Provide sufficient technical information and supporting photographs where required, enabling the office team to prepare accurate quotations.

    Compliance & Safety

Ensure all work complies with the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations, Building Regulations and company procedures.

Maintain valid Gas Safe Registration and relevant domestic and commercial gas competencies.

Complete Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) where required.

Accurately document all work electronically, including job sheets, test results, certification and supporting information using the company's job management software.

Submit completed paperwork promptly to ensure jobs can be processed without delay.

    Customer Service

Deliver a professional, courteous service at all times.

Liaise effectively with clients, tenants, estate managers, site staff and specialist subcontractors.

Provide technical advice and recommendations for repairs, upgrades, replacements and system improvements.

Represent the business professionally and help maintain our reputation through high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service.

    Additional Mechanical Duties

Carry out work on pumps, valves, ventilation systems and general mechanical building services where required.

Assist with system flushing, balancing and heating system upgrades.

Support fellow engineers as part of a collaborative, multi-skilled engineering team.

    What We're Looking For

We're looking for a knowledgeable and reliable engineer who enjoys a varied role and takes pride in delivering high-quality work.

    You'll ideally have:

Experience working on both commercial and domestic gas systems.

Strong servicing, maintenance, breakdown and fault-finding experience.

    Installation and commissioning experience.

Experience working within plant rooms and commercial heating systems.

A good understanding of mechanical building services.

Current Gas Safe Registration with relevant domestic and commercial gas qualifications.

The ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Confidence using digital job management systems to complete reports and documentation.

    A full UK driving licence.

    Working Hours

    Monday to Friday.

    8:00am to 5:00pm.

Engineers are not expected to be "held ransom" by excessive travel. Depending on your work location, you'll typically leave site between 3:00pm and 4:00pm to travel home.

    Salary & Benefits

    £45,000 - £55,000 salary depending on experience.

25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.

    Fully expensed company van.

    Fuel card.

    Company phone.

    iPad.

Full gas tooling provided, including gas analyser, U-gauge and associated testing equipment.

    Nest Pension.

    Call-out rota of 1 in 8.

£150 standby payment for each call-out week, paid in full via expenses.

Door-to-door overtime paid when called out, with a minimum payment of four hours at time and a half.

    Join the Team

If you're an experienced Commercial & Domestic Gas Engineer looking for a role that offers genuine variety, quality work, excellent support and a company that values its engineers, we'd love to hear from you
