How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: St Albans, Hertfordshire (commutable areas considered)
    Salary: £35,000 - £38,000 Basic Salary
    Hours: Monday-Friday, Days Only (40 Hours per Week)
    Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
    Overtime: Available at 1.5x Rate

    The Role

    As a Workshop Technician, you'll play a key role in ensuring industrial cleaning equipment is maintained, serviced and repaired to the highest standards.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Servicing, repairing and maintaining a wide range of industrial cleaning equipment
    Diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical and electronic faults
    Working on petrol, diesel and LPG engine systems
    Carrying out inspections, testing and preventative maintenance activities
    Using diagnostic equipment and a variety of hand and power tools
    Completing repair documentation and service reports accurately
    Identifying and ordering parts when required
    Managing workloads efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards
    Ensuring all workshop activities are completed in line with health and safety procedures

    What We're Looking For

    We're keen to speak with engineers who have:

    Mechanical and/or electrical fault-finding and repair experience
    Experience within engineering environments such as plant, maintenance, agricultural, automotive, hydraulic, pneumatic or industrial machinery
    Good understanding of mechanical systems, engines and diagnostics
    Experience using electrical and mechanical tools
    Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
    Engineering qualifications such as NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent (advantageous but not essential)
    Full UK Driving Licence
