How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Opportunity:
    As a Transport Supervisor, you'll play a key role in:

    Supporting the Logistics Manager with the day to day management of the transport operation while providing leadership cover during periods of absence.
    Supervising, coaching and supporting the Transport Planner and driver team to achieve high levels of performance and engagement.
    Overseeing daily transport activities including route planning, vehicle loading, dispatch and delivery performance.
    Monitoring compliance through driver hours, digital tachograph reporting, Working Time Directive requirements and infringement investigations.
    Coordinating fleet planning, including servicing, MOTs, inspections and defect management to maximise vehicle availability.
    Building strong relationships with customers, suppliers, external hauliers and internal departments to ensure an efficient and responsive operation.
    Supporting audits, continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining compliance with Operator Licence requirements and transport legislation. Your work will directly contribute to delivering a safe, efficient and customer focused transport operation while supporting the continued success and growth of the business.
      
    About You:
    We're looking for someone who can bring:

    Experience within a transport, logistics or fleet supervisory environment, or the ambition and capability to step into a leadership role.
    A strong understanding of UK transport legislation, Operator Licence compliance and the Working Time Directive.
    Excellent route planning, operational coordination and problem solving skills.
    The ability to confidently manage changing priorities within a fast paced transport environment.
    Strong communication and relationship building skills with colleagues, customers and external partners.
    High levels of resilience, organisation and attention to detail.
    Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Teams.
    A hands on approach with a willingness to support the wider operation when needed.
    A TM CPC qualification would be advantageous, although support will be available for candidates who are keen to achieve this qualification.
