How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Associate Director Geotechnical Engineer job itself where you will report directly to the Ground Engineering Director and lead an established team of 10+ engineers, taking responsibility for the successful delivery of technically challenging geotechnical commissions.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Leading geotechnical design for deep basements, foundations, retaining structures and ground movement assessments.

    Developing innovative design solutions for complex urban developments.

    Managing project delivery, programmes, resources and commercial performance.

    Reviewing ground investigations and technical reports.

    Undertaking and reviewing advanced numerical modelling using PLAXIS 2D/3D, WALLAP, GeoStudio, Repute and the Oasys software suite.

    Coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.

    Acting as principal client contact on key commissions.

    Supporting business development and winning new work.

    Mentoring and developing Engineers and Senior Engineers.

    Maintaining technical excellence, quality assurance and CDM compliance throughout project delivery.

    You will have

    To be successful as Associate Director Geotechnical Engineer, you will be an experienced consulting engineer with strong technical capability combined with commercial awareness and leadership skills.

    Ideally you will bring:

    Degree in Civil Engineering or similar.

    MSc in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.

    Chartered Engineer (ICE) or Chartered Geologist (or working towards Chartership).

    Approximately 12–15 years' geotechnical consultancy experience.

    Strong geotechnical design experience across buildings and infrastructure projects.

    Advanced numerical modelling experience using PLAXIS, WALLAP, GeoStudio, Repute and/or Oasys software.

    Experience of deep excavations, retaining structures, foundations and ground movement assessments.

    Strong report writing and technical communication skills.

    Commercial awareness with experience managing consultancy projects profitably.

    Proven ability to lead teams, develop client relationships and win work.
