How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Quantity Surveyor - The Company

    Our client is a leading national property services contractor delivering a wide range of planned maintenance, refurbishment and compliance works across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join their successful Fire Protection division based either Newport of Bristol office.

    The team delivers fire safety improvement works including fire door replacement programmes across a varied portfolio of projects for housing providers, public sector clients, education and commercial buildings.

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business with a supportive commercial team, genuine long-term career prospects and an achievable bonus structure of up to 25%.

    Quantity Surveyor - The Role

    Reporting to the Regional Commercial Manager, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of fire protection projects from procurement through to final account. Projects are generally within 1 hour of Bristol.

    Working alongside operational teams, you will manage costs, valuations, subcontractor accounts and financial reporting, ensuring projects are delivered profitably whilst maintaining excellent client relationships.

    Although primarily focused on Fire Protection works, you will also support other workstreams within the business during periods of changing workload, making this a varied and interesting role within a collaborative commercial team.

    Quantity Surveyor - Key Responsibilities

    * Manage the commercial performance of multiple fire protection projects.

    * Prepare and submit client valuations and applications for payment.

    * Manage subcontractor procurement, payments and final accounts.

    * Monitor project costs, forecasts and profitability.

    * Produce cost reports and financial forecasts.

    * Negotiate variations and contractual changes.

    * Work closely with operational teams to maximise project performance.

    * Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.

    * Ensure commercial processes are followed throughout the project lifecycle.

    * Support other commercial workstreams where required as part of a collaborative team.

    Quantity Surveyor - The Person

    * Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, refurbishment or property services.

    * Strong commercial awareness with good contractual knowledge.

    * Experience managing subcontractor accounts and client valuations.

    * Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

    * Organised with strong financial and analytical skills.

    * Team player who enjoys working in a collaborative environment.

    * Flexible approach and willing to support different business workstreams when required.

    * Looking for a long-term career rather than frequent job moves.

    * Full UK driving licence.

    Quantity Surveyor - The Reward

    * £50,000 - £55,000 basic salary.

    * £6,452 car allowance or £8,052 electric vehicle allowance.

    * Achievable bonus scheme of up to 25%.

    * Comprehensive benefits package.

    * Long-term career progression within a national contractor.

    * Supportive and close-knit commercial team.

    * Varied project portfolio across fire protection and property services.

    * Stable workload with an established and growing business.

    If you’re a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor looking to join a respected contractor with excellent earning potential, a collaborative culture and genuine long-term career prospects, we’d love to hear from you
