How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Shift Engineer – Birmingham

    Location: Birmingham
    Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum

    Are you an experienced Mechanical Shift Engineer looking for your next challenge?

    We're recruiting for a skilled engineer to join a professional facilities management team at a prestigious site in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-established organisation, maintaining critical building services in a varied and rewarding role.

    The Role

    As a Mechanical Shift Engineer, you'll be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs while ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all mechanical and electrical building services.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems.

    * Operate, monitor and maintain BMS and HVAC systems.

    * Maintain chilled water circuits and chilled beam systems.

    * Perform electrical testing and inspections where required.

    * Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety legislation, including COSHH and Risk Assessments.

    * Follow CDM procedures and site-specific safe systems of work.

    * Respond to emergency situations and support critical site operations.

    * Deliver excellent customer service while building strong relationships with site stakeholders.

    About You

    We're looking for someone with experience in:

    * Building Management Systems (BMS).

    * HVAC systems.

    * Chilled water circuits and chilled beams.

    * Electrical testing and inspection.

    * CDM regulations and Health & Safety procedures.

    * Emergency response procedures.

    * Water Hygiene (L8).

    Desirable Qualifications

    * IOSH or NEBOSH.

    * Authorised Person certification (AP15/AP12 or equivalent).

    * Relevant Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualifications.

    * Strong communication and customer service skills.
