How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Engineer

    Location: Manchester / North West
    Working Pattern: Hybrid

Mechanical Engineer – Develop Your Career in the Nuclear Sector

Are you a Mechanical Engineer looking to take the next step in your career? Do you want to work on technically challenging engineering projects while developing specialist expertise within the UK’s growing nuclear sector?

Our client is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join their expanding team in the Manchester/North West region. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer with around 3–6 years’ experience to work on complex engineering and design projects while receiving the support needed to progress towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

    About the Company

Based in the Manchester/North West region, our client is a well-established engineering consultancy with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality engineering solutions across the nuclear sector. Although the business has retained the collaborative feel of a smaller organisation, it continues to grow steadily, offering employees the opportunity to work on major projects while enjoying the benefits of a close-knit and supportive team.

With an expanding portfolio of technically complex projects, the successful Mechanical Engineer will work alongside experienced engineers and industry specialists, gaining exposure to every stage of the engineering lifecycle while developing valuable expertise

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Producing mechanical engineering designs, calculations and technical documentation.

    * Developing engineering solutions that meet client and regulatory requirements.

    * Producing engineering reports, specifications and design documentation.

    * Supporting design reviews, technical assessments and engineering calculations.

    * Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle.

    * Assisting with technical problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.

    * Ensuring designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes and engineering best practice.

    About You

The ideal Mechanical Engineer will have around 3–6 years’ industry experience and be looking to continue developing their technical engineering career within the nuclear sector.

    You’ll ideally have:

    * A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

    * Around 3–6 years’ experience in a mechanical engineering role.

    * Experience producing mechanical designs, engineering calculations and technical documentation.

    * An understanding of engineering design principles and relevant industry standards.

    * Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

    * The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

    * Progress towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or the ambition to achieve chartership.

    * A full UK driving licence and the willingness to travel to customer and project sites when required.

    * The ability to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC). Candidates must therefore have the right to work in the UK and meet the eligibility requirements for security clearance.

Previous experience within the nuclear sector is advantageous but not essential. Candidates from other highly regulated or complex engineering environments are encouraged to apply.

    Why Consider This Opportunity?

This Mechanical Engineer position offers much more than the next career move—it’s an opportunity to develop specialist engineering expertise while building a long-term career with a growing company in the Manchester/North West region.

The successful candidate will benefit from:

    * A clear and structured career progression pathway, with opportunities to progress into Senior Mechanical Engineer and technical leadership positions.

    * Ongoing mentoring and support from experienced Chartered Engineers to help achieve Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

    * The opportunity to work on technically challenging engineering and design projects across the nuclear sector.

    * Hybrid working, providing flexibility and an excellent work-life balance.

    * Exposure to a wide range of complex engineering projects across the North West and the wider UK.

    * A supportive and collaborative working environment where professional development is genuinely encouraged.

    * A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
