How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Lead the strategic direction of a successful and growing food manufacturing business, driving commercial growth, operational excellence and long-term success. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Managing Director to make a significant impact.

    Our client is a well-established and highly respected food manufacturing business supplying a diverse customer base across the UK. With a strong reputation for quality, innovation and customer service, the business is entering an exciting phase of continued growth and is seeking an inspirational Managing Director to lead the organisation into its next chapter.

    As Managing Director, you will have full responsibility for the strategic and operational leadership of the business. You will drive commercial performance, oversee manufacturing operations, develop high-performing teams and ensure the delivery of ambitious growth plans while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality and customer service.

    Key Responsibilities

    *    Develop and deliver the strategic business plan to achieve sustainable growth and profitability.
    *    Lead, inspire and develop the senior leadership team, fostering a high-performance culture.
    *    Take full ownership of P&L performance, budgets and financial management.
    *    Drive sales growth by supporting commercial strategy and strengthening customer relationships.
    *    Ensure operational excellence across manufacturing, production, warehousing and supply chain activities.
    *    Maintain compliance with all food safety, health & safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
    *    Deliver continuous improvements in operational efficiency, cost control and productivity.
    *    Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, stakeholders and group colleagues.
    *    Develop future talent, succession plans and organisational capability.
    *    Champion a culture of customer focus, accountability and continuous improvement.

    Key Skills and Qualifications

    *    Proven experience as a Managing Director or a Business Unit Leader position within food manufacturing.
    *    Strong commercial awareness with demonstrable P&L responsibility.
    *    Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams across manufacturing and commercial functions.
    *    Excellent financial acumen with the ability to drive profitable growth.
    *    Strong sales and customer relationship management experience.
    *    Outstanding leadership, communication and influencing skills.
    *    Ability to lead organisational change and drive continuous improvement.
    *    Experience operating within highly regulated manufacturing environments.
    *    Knowledge of food safety standards and manufacturing compliance.
    *    Experience in supplying government sectors would be advantageous.
